epiGuider is a registered consultancy company in Cameroon with specialty in medical research and epidemiology drawing from over 7 years of practical experience in the field of epidemiology and medical microbiology, both at national and international levels. Our passion for research stems for the gaps in making evident based decisions due to lack of quality research in most African countries.Dr Martyn T. SAMA et al; in his situation analysis of Health Research in Cameroon identified 4 major constraints facing health research in Cameroon:
- inadequate planning, resulting from the lack of clear priorities
- inadequate, or lack of, research training or recycling for researchers, particularly in writing up research protocols
- material resource constraints-equipment and maintenance;
- low priority accorded to health research.
Although this analysis was performed in Cameroon, the constraints identified are common to most African countries. epiGuider seeks to address these constraints especially the first two (inadequate planning, resulting from the lack of clear priorities and inadequate, or lack of, research training or recycling for researchers, particularly in writing up research protocols) with the hope of having an impact on the last two (material resource constraints-equipment and maintenance and low priority accorded to health research). epiGuider therefore intends to work with just about anyone requiring services in epidemiology and research. More precisely, students, NGOs, private organizations, research institutions, universities, government agencies as well as public health institutes.
Vision
Our vision is to innovate by means of evidence-based research; so as to improve the quality of life of populations in Cameroon, Africa and world at large through the coordination of find network of young researchers in Cameroon and around Africa.
Mission
Our mission is to increase innovation through the development of new technology adapted to the African healthcare system by creating a network of young medical researchers by recruiting and training them (on the job) in basic, clinical and populational research.
